Chief Abbot of Phor Kark See Monastery (1947 - 1990)
Venerable Seck Hong Choon studied San Yuan Feng Shui under Master Yen Ben in the 1950s, and mastered the secret Xuan Kong Feng Shui Theory. San Yuan Feng Shui comes under the famous Wu Chang Sect Feng Shui which originated in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province of China.
He was known to have been a mentor to many rich and influential individuals on Feng Shui matters, including his well-publicized role in turning around the business at Grand Hyatt Hotel of Singapore. |
Birth and Early YearsThe legendary master was born in 1907 at Xiahu village, JinJiang, Southern Province of Fujian. He was the only son in the family of six.
During his early days, he studied Chinese Classical Literature at a private school. At the age of sixteen, he became a monk and devoted himself to the teaching of Buddhism. At the age of eighteen, he went to Nan Pu Tuo Temple in Xiamen with his master, Venerable Seck Hui Quan where he had the opportunity to study under Bhikkhu Taixu. During the Japanese Invasion of China, he fled with his master to Singapore where they stayed at Long Sun See Temple and subsequently at Phor Kark See Monastery. They then left for Medan, Indonesia; and subsequently settled down at Meow Sian Lin Temple in Penang. |
After the death of his master, the Singapore Buddhist Lodge, Putuo Temple and the Chinese Buddhist Association invited him to lead Phor Kark See Monastery at Bright Hill Drive, Singapore. He then made Singapore his home and was acknowledged by the local Chinese Buddhists as their highest religious leader. Incidentally, Phor Kark See Monastery is also popularly referred to as Kong Meng San, literally meaning Bright Hill in Mandarin.

Marquis Zhuge Liang 诸葛亮 aka KongmingThe legendary strategist, scholar and inventor lived from 181 AD --- 234 AD. The Marquis 忠武侯 is often depicted as a master of metaphysics who could engage the forces of nature to turn around adversities. Widely recognised as the most brilliant and accomplished strategist of his era, he has also been nicknamed as Wolong, literally meaning the crouching dragon in Mandarin.
He was Premier of the Shu Kingdom ( 221 AD --- 234 AD ) during the Three Kingdoms Era ( 220 AD --- 280 AD ). In the Kingdom of Shu, Zhuge Liang set up strict social order and tried to govern the kingdom by law. The agriculture and handicraft industries developed rapidly through his wisdom and assistance. |
Birth and Early YearsZhuge Liang was born in Yangdu, Langya Commandery ( present-day Yinan County, Shandong ). He was orphaned at a young age, and was raised by his uncle, Zhuge Xuan largely in Jing Province. After his uncle died, Zhuge Liang and his brothers settled in Wolonggang ( in present-day Henan ) for about ten years, farming by day and studying at night.
Zhuge Liang enjoyed reciting Liangfu Yin (梁父吟), a folk song popular in Shandong. |
Tomb and Temples of WorshipThe Wuhou Tomb is at the foot of the Dingjun Hill, four kilometers to the south of Mian County ( Mianxian ), Shaanxi, China. Around the tomb is a big three-courtyard temple comprising the main hall, sidehouses, palace of northern courtyard, Taoist temple of southern courtyard, worshipping palace, memorial hall and tomb pavilion. The tomb is five meters high and cone-shaped.
The Dingjun Hill is two kilometers from the Wuhou Tomb and was a famous battle field during the Three Kingdoms Period. |
There is a train service from Xi’an to Hanzhong. Visitors need to get off at the Mian County for a bus ride to the site.
